In 2022, the Asian Sambo Championship will be held in the administrative center of Sughd region – in Khujand.
The corresponding decision was made at the Congress of the Sambo Union of Asia (SSA), which was held on October 10th in Tashkent. The official event was attended by representatives of 22 countries.
In his speech, the SSA President Alamjon Mullayev thanked the leaders of the national federations for the contribution they make on the development of sambo on the entire Asian continent. Also, with report on the development of Sambo in Asia, as well as how the XVIII Asian Games were held in Jakarta (Indonesia), the International Martial Arts Festival in Chungju (Republic of Korea) and the Asian Sambo Championship in Delhi (India) was made by the General Director of SSA Suresh The Gopi. He also informed those present about the recognition of the National Olympic Committee by the Sambo Federation of Indonesia.
According to the website of the International Sambo Federation, in the final part of the event, the venue for the Asian Sambo Championship 2020 was approved by Bali (Indonesia), 2021 – Tashkent (Uzbekistan), 2022 – Khujand (Tajikistan).
