Around 50 farmers and business leaders from Khatlon and Sughd gathered for a hands-on workshop aimed at improving the transport and logistics processes needed for exporting dried fruits from Tajikistan. The training focused on enhancing knowledge and helping businesses to streamline their operations and reach international markets more effectively.

The workshop, supported by the Government of Switzerland through the International Trade Centre (ITC)’s Trade Promotion East project, was led by local expert Mr. Rustam Abdusalomov. The event aimed to equip participants with the essential skills to navigate the complexities of exporting goods and expand their businesses globally.

Mr. Abdusalomov highlighted the importance of the workshop, saying, “Understanding customs procedures, logistics, labelling, and packaging of dried fruits for export is crucial for businesses. With up-to-date knowledge, Tajik companies can strengthen their position in the global market and expand their reach.”

The participants learned about Tajikistan’s customs rules and regulations and how to handle important export documents and procedures. They also explored various options for transportation of goods and how to meet packaging and labelling requirements for different markets. In addition, the group discussed how to prepare foreign trade contracts appropriately and how logistics play a key role in successful exports.

The training included practical sessions on using the EU REX self-certification system, a tool that helps businesses simplify their export processes for entering eth EU market. This system makes it easier for companies to prove their products meet international standards, saving time and reducing barriers to trade.

Umarkhon Akhmedov, Barakat Isfara representative, said, “The workshop was very useful and practical. I gained new knowledge and skills that will help us improve the preparation of dried fruits for export. We can now manage logistics more efficiently and make our products more competitive in the global market.”

This workshop is just one example of how ITC is helping local businesses to grow by improving their export knowledge and skills. With the right tools and knowledge, Tajik businesses are better equipped to compete and thrive in the global market.
