The leadership of Sughd province as part of its initiatives devoted to the Year of Tourism and Folk Crafts Development intends to build ropeway from Ismoili Somoni Complex up to Cultural and Historical Complex “Qal’ai Khujand” (Khujand Fortress). This initiative is directed to transform Khujand in entertainment and tourist site. NIAT “Khovar” has been reported by the Executive body of state authority of Sughd province.
According to the source, this step will increase the travel status of the province’s centre and promote the growth of domestic and foreign tourists. On the other hand, it will be the new opportunity of recreation and leisure for residents of Khujand city.
Therefore, the repair and reconstruction works are currently being carried out in “Qal’ai Khujand”. The Chairman of given province Rajabboy Ahmadzoda during his familiarization with the course of construction works and activities of the social institutions of Khujand city instructed responsible persons to create points for selling of folk handicrafts and national souvenirs on the territory of sports town.
As we reported earlier, the first ropeway in Tajikistan was put into operation in 57 kilometers north-east of Dushanbe on the territory of ski resort complex “Safed-dara” at the end of last year. It was built by the Austrian company “Doppelmayr”. It should be noted that this company is known in the world and was engaged in the construction of ropeways in the Olympic Sochi (Russian Federation) and at the ski resort “Chimbulak” in Kazakhstan.
The ropeway of the ski resort “Safed-dara”, as its Director Bahodur Ishoqov told to NIAT “Khovar” correspondent, can serve to 1000-2000 people per hour.
