Tajikistan delegation established direct contacts and expanded cooperation opportunities at the international exhibition for textile and fashion industries “UzTextile Expo Spring” held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from 29 to 31 May 2023.
Around 30 participants from 23 textile and clothing companies from all over Tajikistan got acquainted with new trends, sourced needed raw materials such as mixed yarns and accessories, as well as established new business contacts.
UzTextile Expo – is the unique international specialized exhibition of textile and fashion industry in Central Asia. Visited by over 9,000 experts, businessmen, and traders annually, the exhibition demonstrates the achievements of the textile business and fashion industry from the world’s leading manufacturers along the entire production chain – from yarn to ready-made clothing. The event helps to find partners in Uzbekistan, the largest consumer market of Central Asia with a population exceeding 34 mln.
Mr. Ardasher Ibragimov, “Business Consulting Group Khujand” Deputy Director, says the Tashkent fair is a “creativity and innovation regional hub that inspires garment industry. Tajik companies had an exceptional opportunity to see latest developments in the clothing industry, meet leading textile producers from the region, empower own brands in the regional market, establish new contacts with the manufacturers, suppliers, importers and traders, get acquainted with trends, demands and expectations of the market, as well as explore new products and innovations”.
The Tajik textile delegation also gained from an extensive business program, including attending conferences and business meetings, ready-to-wear fashion shows, master classes from leading designers and industry experts, etc. Besides, the representatives of Tajik textile and clothing companies had also sourcing opportunities in Tashkent and Tashkent district visiting wholesale points as well as showrooms of the local companies and traders.

The Tashkent event gave us a good opportunity to establish direct business linkages and partnerships with potential counterparts and we hope, we it helps to diversify our orders and sourcing opportunities. ITC and GIZ believe that participation in international trade fairs provides good opportunities for project beneficiary companies to be competitive in regional markets through the establishment of new business contacts, obtaining new information on the sector developments, and learning more about global market requirements.
The programme to Tashkent is made possible thanks to the close cooperation between ITC and Integrated Rural Development Project/ TRIGGER in coordination with the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan. Integrated Rural Development Project (IRDP)/ Towards Rural Inclusive Growth and Economic Resilience (TRIGGER) is jointly funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in Tajikistan. The International Trade Centre’s Global Textiles and Clothing Programme (GTEX) is funded by the Government of Switzerland and aims to promote T&C exports and to stimulate employment and income generation along the value chain. Tajik local consulting companies – “ACT Development Group” (Dushanbe) and “Business Consulting Group” (Khujand) arranged the participation of the Tajik delegation, as well as led and guided the delegation during the fair and trip to Tashkent.
