The independent journalist and activist Bahriniso Abdurahmonova did not let to cut shadow trees which are growth in I. Somoni Avenue, near the “Kokhi Matbuot” building in Khujand town.
As is known for everybody, in Khujand town after launching the new public buses was started the construction of bus stops. Due to official data base, in Khujand town, are going to build 150 bus stops for public transports. During the construction the constructors need to cut thousands of trees which were planted in the past century.
“According to the public transports plan one bus stop should be built at the territory of I. Somoni street near the “Kokhi Matbuot” building of Khujand town. The place for the future bus stop was enclosed at 4th September of current year. Inside the enclosure were remained some trees which gives the cool breeze and shade for people who pass this place and as well for citizens and guests. However, these trees interfere for the construction of bus stops and they should be cut. The journalistic community and the citizens of this territory expressed dissatisfaction about eco-outrage. These trees saved the life of hundred people from the heat of summer. After one day I turned to environmental administration of Sugd region and the committee of environmental activity under the governance of Tajikistan government. On 13th September I received an official letter with the signature of deputy chief of Sugd region’s environmental administration, B. Abumalikzoda, which was sent to the manager of environmental activity committee under the governance of Tajikistan government Z. N. Nazarzoda”, – announced to “SN” correspondent Bahriniso Abdurahmonova.
As it is become clear, in the letter was written that the administration looked the view of independent journalist and the citizen of Khujand, B. Abdurahmonova’s. With the construction of bus stops in I. Somoni Street is busy the LLC “Sugdpayvat”. From the side of this company was sent the letter where it requests the permission on cutting the trees in the territory where are going to be built the bus stops.
The request of LLC “Sugdpayvand” about cutting the trees in 20s region territory was learned carefully. As the trees are still in a good condition the administration is not allowing cutting them”, -was written in the letter.
“I am happy that the administration respond to my answer and permission. The trees will continue to save people from the sunshine and protect the environment.”- said B. Abdurahmonova
We will note that at the beginning of 2018 year were cut almost all trees in central streets of Khujand town- from “Panjshanbe” crossroad till “Kooperator” crossroad. Instead of cut trees were planted evergreens trees for decoration. However, these decorative trees could not change the plane trees when the weather temperature went up to 45 degree. Subsequently the citizens of the town named their territory “Death Valley”.
