Tajik wrestlers, natives of the city of Isfara, Sughd region, became silver medalists of the Asian Championship in freestyle wrestling.
The Asian Championship in wrestling was held in New Delhi city, India. In the weight category up to 57 kg, the Tajik sportman Hikmatullo Vohidov became the silver medalist, in the 61 kg category – wrestler Muhammadkhon Ikromov.
As a journalist, publicist and writer Bobodzhon Ikromov noted on his Facebook page, Tajik sportmen managed to climb the winning podium 20 years later.
“The first coach of these young sportsmen is Furkatjon Ikromov, who now lives in UFA, Republic of Bashkortostan. Given his abilities and giftedness, seven years ago, he sent both wrestlers to the famous Olympic reserve school of the city of Khasavyurt of the Republic of Dagestan, which is considered the best free-style wrestling school in the world. It brought up many world champions and the Olympic Games. Honored trainer of the USSR, Honored trainer of Russia Magomed Huseynov, who visited Tajikistan in 2018, said that for the first time in the history of Dagestan, a native of Tajikistan, Muhammadkhon Ikromov, became the champion of Dagestan in freestyle wrestling. “This testifies to the good future of the Tajik fighter.” With the support of a wise mentor, today more than a dozen Tajik young wrestlers are studying at the Olympic Reserve School in Khasavyurt,” Bobodzhon Ikromov writes.
He also notes that Muhammadhon Ikromov and Hikmatullo Vohidov have been engaged in freestyle wrestling for the past 15 years. Prior to that, they took part in many competitions and tournaments in freestyle wrestling, including in Russia, Turkey, Romania, Kazakhstan. As juniors, in all competitions they defended the honor of Tajikistan. The latest achievements of Tajik wrestlers Muhammadhon Ikromov and Hikmatullo Vokhidov, as well as their mentor Furkat Ikromov, have become an invaluable gift for residents of Tajikistan on the eve of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of state independence.
