On September between Kulundu village of Leilek region and Ovchi Kalach of the Bobojongafurov’s region, the bridge was opened, which was destroyed during the mudflow in 2017.
The Friendship Bridge was erected at the expense of both states. The Tajik side spent 75 thousand somoni and the Kyrgyz side – 4 million 800 thousand somoni. The bridge is 12 meters long and 8 meters wide.
The opening ceremony of the bridge was attended by the chairman of the Sughd region, Rajabboy Ahmadzoda and the governor of Batken region Akram Madumarov.
The chairman of the Sughd region in his speech noted that the opening of the bridge will give an impetus to the bilateral relations of the fraternal peoples.
“Today’s event – the opening of the bridge in the future will contribute to the multifaceted friendship of our peoples living in the border areas,” said Rajabboy Ahmadzoda.
Akram Madumarov, the governor of Batken oblast, in turn, stated that “two nations have lived side by side for centuries and have an ancient history, and no incidents can oppose our relations and friendship between fraternal peoples.”
