The director of the film “Vernost” Nigina Sayfullaeva won the GQ Super Women award in the “Cinema” nomination.

The prize was awarded for the courage and development of new boundaries of Russian cinema in the film “Vernost”.

According to the website gq.ru, on November 27, the second annual GQ Super Women awards ceremony took place.

“The award was established in 2018, when they decided to refuse the nomination“ Woman of the Year ”in the framework of“ Man of the Year ”GQ, because we can’t limit ourselves to a statuette for only one girl. This year we awarded 11 heroines who for many years developed business in Russia, made us think about charity, shot provocative films, changed our attitude to the theater, encouraged us to listen to Russian music and carefully monitor the successes of our gymnasts, ”the source reports.

She received high education in Moscow, in 2005. She graduated the Faculty of Art History of the Russian State University for the Humanities (RSUH). In 2010, she graduated the Higher Courses for Scriptwriters and Directors, and also received a diploma from the Institute of Contemporary Art.

Nigina Sayfullaeva shot her first directorial work in 2009, it was a short film “I want with you”, and for this tape the director independently wrote the script. In 2011, she shot her second short, Rose Hip. In 2012, Nigina became one of the directors of the comedy series “Deffchonki”, which was showed on TNT channel.  In 2017, Nigina acted as one of the screenwriters of the film “About Love. Only for adults”, having removed one of the short stories there; in the same year, she wrote the script for the drama series “Kids” for TV-3.

In 2018, she worked on a new film, the psychological drama “Stars in the wrong light.” The film tells the story of a woman of thirty years who suspects her husband of treason, but cannot directly say so and decides to betray herself. Originally, the film was to be called “Jealousy,” but over two years of working on the script, the working title of the film no longer fully corresponded to its content. A film called “Fidelity” was shown at the Kinotavr festival in 2019 and received a diploma from the jury wording “for the unlimited faith of actors in the director”. She is the granddaughter of Tajik professor Atahon Sayfullaev.
